BRANDS ANNOUNCES HIP HOP IMMORTALS VOLUME ONE
New
York, NY - May 29, 2002 - Immortal Brands announces the
September 2002 release date of, what's sure to be, a collectors item
as well as a pivotal piece of pop culture - Hip Hop Immortals.
This coffee-table book contains 272 pages of stunning and provocative
photos of the 100 most influential artists in hip-hop. The oversized
pages measure 12" by 15.25" and the book weighs a staggering
seven pounds. Hip Hop Immortals Volume One Includes an array of images
ranging from founding fathers, Kurtis Blow and Run-D.M.C, to pop icons,
Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, P. Diddy and Tupac Shakur. Hip-Hop's finest
are revealed through the lenses of forty of today's most talented
and celebrated photographers including David LaChapelle, Christian
Witkin, Mark Seliger, Michel Comte, Danny Clinch, Jonathan Mannion,
Piotr Sikora, Jesse Frohman, Ernie Paniccioli, Matthew Dean, Dana
Lixenberg, Sante D'orazio, Janette Beckman, Michael Lavine and Max
and Nitin Vadukul. These challenging images are matched by the insightful
and fluid words of hip-hop historian Bonz Malone.
What makes this book so unique is the way in which creators, designers,
subjects, photographers and writers came together to create the vision
that has become Hip Hop Immortals. Immortal Brands chose
the final indelible images from a vast collection of photos submitted
from over five hundred photographers from New York to Paris. The images
that were captured are in fact "Immortal", everlasting, timeless and
eternal. The book's design concept was masterminded by Giovanni C.
Russo and his design firm, No. 11. Russo's client list includes designs
and campaigns for The Gap, John Bartlett, Yohji Yamamoto, MaxMara,
Club Manaco and Valentino. Giovanni's book list includes; Albert Watson's
Maroc, Deborah Tuberville's Studio St Petersburg and Max Vadukul's
self titled book MAX.
"Hip Hop Immortals is a ground breaking achievement. Hip-Hop
fans have been waiting for something like this and in September we'll
bring it to them", states actor and hip-hop enthusiast, Michael Rapaport.
