In 1969 his family immigrated to Britain, where they settled in a "hideous" London suburb. He ran away from home at sixteen. Vadukul is photographer-at-large for Talk magazine and has served as staff photographer at The New Yorker. His fashion and editorial work has appeared in numerous magazines, including many of the Condé Nast publications. He has shot covers and lead fashion stories for American, Italian, French, and British editions of Vogue.
