Matthew
Dean

Matt
Dean is a partner of immortal brands and is our Photographer-in-Chief.
From an early age, Matt has had two passions, photography and hip-hop.
He was given his first camera at six and showed an early interest
and talent for still and video photography. Throughout his training,
Matts interest in capturing the essence of the personality has
been his focal point. His introduction in hip-hop began in the early
eighties with his interest and ability in break-dancing and later
mixing.
While attending the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and until
the present time, he was fortunate to work with a number of the most
famous photographers in the world such as Bruce Weber and Aldo Rossi
III. Their mentoring has given him inspiration, technique and experience.
Matt Dean has traveled extensively and interacted with many kinds
of subjects, unique backgrounds and varied situations. He has experience
in the organization of large-scale photo projects here and abroad.
He also has a unique and talented eye in selecting one of a kind image.
His photographs have been shown in numerous galleries, private venues
and events as well as appearing in numerous publications.
Much of his work has been in fashion and portraiture, which has led
to his interest in photographing personalities and a passion to uniquely
immortalize them. He has experienced both sides of the camera, as
he has also modeled for many companies, such as Banana Republic, Coca
Cola and Hermés.
For Hip-Hop Immortals, Matt Dean has created a unique and close collaboration
of the artist and photographer. He had the mission to immortalize
the artist by finding their individual and unique human quality, and
mesh this with what has made them an immortal artist. Matt Dean has
exclusively photographed for Hip-Hop Immortals, a few of the immortals
that will be appearing in the book.
